Abstract

Discusses principles of selection underlying war procedures which are equally applicable to peace conditions. Describes the principles adopted in the selection and classification of S.A.T.C. men with reference to a scheme proposed by Thorndike. According to this scheme, men were rated on seven qualities, required in the different branches of the army, by a Rating Board. Describes the salient features of the scheme revised by a committee of supervisors. Analyzes the capacities and provides mathematical proof of the existence of fitting degrees of talents in the individual to meet established needs in the job.
