Abstract

Studied the relationships between descriptions by peers of the leader behavior of 141 US Air Force instructor pilots and the performance of these pilots on several dimensions of proficiency. The Supervisory Behavior Description scores for Consideration and Structure were each found to be related to various criterion components and to the composite measure of proficiency, with all the relations positive. A multiple R of .50 was obtained by a combination of Consideration and Structure with the composite criterion. Scores obtained through use of the Supervisory Behavior Description by peers appear predictive of leader performance. Instructor pilots with the highest performance scores were those with high scores on both Consideration and Structure. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
