Abstract
Monographs of the Journal of Consumer Research ( MJCR ) The JCR Policy Board is pleased to announce that James R. Bettman has accepted the position of editor of the Monographs of the Journal of Consumer Research ( MJCR ) series. Bettman is the Burlington Industries Professor of Business Administration at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. Bettman is one of the preeminent researchers in our field. He was coeditor of Journal of Consumer Research for six years, and he is a coauthor of the first monograph in this series. Bettman began his appointment on May 1, 2002, succeeding Deborah Roedder John, the founding editor of the series. The MJCR series provides a unique publication outlet for major conceptual, empirical, and methodological works of 100 to 350 pages. We are devoted to publishing major works that generate authoritative new findings about consumer research based on large-scale empirical studies or conceptual integration and model development. In contrast to journals, which serve as a conduit for research on more narrow topics, MJCR is designed for larger and more substantial works of the highest quality. The most important criterion is that the manuscript contribute a new or better-integrated perspective on a significant issue or controversy in consumer behavior.
