Testing equality of means in the presence of correlation
Biometrika · 1969 · Volume 56 · Issue 1
Abstract
The problem considered here is that of testing equality of means in the presence of correlation when a sample from a bivariate normal population is available. The procedure studied for this purpose involves a preliminary test of a hypothesis concerning the population correlation coefficient. When some observations on one of the variables are missing a statistic used to test the hypothesis of equality of means is suggested. The power of this test is compared with that of the paired t test.
