Some notes on the relationship between the distributions of central and non-central F

Abstract

Summary The investigation starts from Tiku's (1965) approximation to the distribution of a non-central F , say F' , based on the central F or variance ratio distribution. By examining the relations between the moment ratios β 1 and β 2 for F and F' , it is shown why the approximation proved successful.
