A note on the equivalence of D-optimal design measures for three rival linear models

Abstract

SUMMARY Atkinson & Fedorov (1975) considered three linear models as plausible rivals for describing a regression relationship. It is pointed out here that for each of these three models the D-optimal design measure for parameter estimation is the same. In such a situation a multipurpose design criterion consisting of discrimination and parameter estimation terms will be greatly simplified.
