A Characterization of Bartlett's statistic involving incomplete beta functions

Abstract
Exact expressions are obtained for the density and distribution functions of Bartlett's (1937) statistic for testing for homogeneity of variances of k normal populations, when random samples of not necessarily the same size are taken. The latter expression facilitates computation of exact critical values. An illustrative computation is presented.
