Abstract
The system analysed in the preceding paper under the two alternative extreme assumptions of successional as against simultaneous attendance to machines is reconsidered under a “mixed” assumption: Machines are attended to in groups; repair of machines belonging to the same group is simultaneous, but different groups are dealt with in succession. Expressions are developed for the mean and variance of the number of idle machines as observed by a random controller and as observed by the repairman during one round.
