Abstract
Many users of marketing research seem to regard it as a mere matter of summarizing facts, some of which the researcher may have to collect. This article argues that this is an oversimplification: that research, if it is to be sound and of most help to marketing management, must be creative and imaginative in study design, question design, and the like.
