Technical Note—The Waiting Time in theEk/M/1 Queuing System

Abstract

In a standard M / E k /1 queuing system, the average steady-state waiting time of an arriving customer decreases monotonically in k for a fixed arrival and service rate. This note establishes the analogous result for the dual system E k / M /1.
