Abstract

The article looks at a study which investigates the relationships of life style and interpersonal need compatibilities in supervisor-subordinate pairs in the U.S. The study also investigates the attitudes of subordinates toward their supervisors as a function of their life style. The subjects, which were comprised of engineers and project team leaders employed by a large manufacturing company, were given a life style orientation questionnaire. The author concludes that the more compatible the life style and interpersonal needs of supervisor and subordinate, the more favorable the subordinate's attitudes toward the supervisor will be.
