Abstract

The article presents a response to a comment from Professor Kae H. Chung on his article titled “In Defense of Subjective Executive Appraisal” in the September 1969 issue of this publication. The author responds that he and Professor Chung may not be in disagreement, but contends that Chung has misinterpreted a fundamental aspect of his argument. The author does not believe that interaction should be the sole criterion for rewarding or promoting a subordinate, but that when all other criteria are considered, ability to interact and produce results are the difference between good and better. The author argues that a higher level of interaction, at some point, becomes a technical skill.
