Abstract

A survey reveals a high incidence of job mobility among business faculty, with many changing academic positions after serving only 2 years. Job changes appear to be motivated by economic reasons, by a desire for more rapid progress, or by reactions to administrative deficiencies. Inadequate communication of basic job factors at the time of recruitment is viewed as an important contributor to faculty dissatisfaction. A number of influences upon mobility among business faculty are examined, with emphasis focusing upon specific organizational factors that have a direct impact upon job satisfaction.
