Abstract

The article presents a commentary on the paper “Queuing Theory Revisited,“ by Joel Zelnick. The authors contend that Zelnick's simulation approach is more expensive, time-consuming, and complex. Zelnick stated in his paper that reliable data could not be obtained for use as inputs into queuing formulae. The authors note that professional industrial engineers have effectively taken time studies for years. The authors acknowledge that queuing theory as well as any other methodology will not give exact answers to problems in the management field because of the human element involved.
