Abstract

In an effort to better understand some of the basic dimensions underlying organizational process, a longitudinal study was undertaken in which a variety of operational variables derived from a firm's record system were subjected to factor analysis. When the factors which emerged from the analysis were described in terms of the operational variables associated with them and compared with theoretically derived dimensions, they provided hypotheses about some of the underlying variations In the firm's performance.
