Abstract
The article discusses employee reactions to goals set by management. The author identifies two research questions related to goal setting in personnel management. The first pertains to the extent that orientations toward a profession, organization and an employee's peers can by identified. The other regards the extent that commitments are related to organization goal congruence. The study employs a broad spectrum employee orientations questionnaire that has been factor analyzed to determine any orientations that would emerge.
