Manager-Consultant Conflict: An Experiential Approach
Academy of Management Journal · 1975 · Volume 18 · Issue 2
Abstract
The article reports on the development of an effective and successful multipurpose classroom experience with the use of an intentionally misdesigned simulation model. The design philosophy is in opposition of the maxims and precepts found in standard reference texts. The purpose of misdesigning the model was to educate a class of managers on the usefulness of simulation methods, various procedures for employing consultants, and how to detect inadequate simulation models. The structure of the pedagogical situation is explained in this article and the results analyzed.
