System Influence on Organizational Decision Making: The Case of Resource Allocation
Academy of Management Journal · 1978 · Volume 21 · Issue 1
Abstract
This paper reports the relationship of three organization contextual variables—size, affluence and employee education—to resource allocation in 91 not-for-profit school organizations. The contextual variables are significantly related to resource allocation. The major relationship is with the allocation of resources between core functions and overhead functions: Overhead functions receive a larger share of resources in both large and affluent school organizations.
