Generalizability of Individual Difference Moderators of the Participation in Decision Making-Employee Response Relationship
Academy of Management Journal · 1978 · Volume 21 · Issue 1
Abstract
A considerable amount of research including numerous replications has indicated that individual difference moderators of the relationship between the job situation and employee responses do not generalize across research sites. Using data from 2,431 employees in 14 research sites, the present study hypothesized and found that such moderating effects are situation-specific. Not one of 73 potential moderator variables investigated consistently moderated the relationship between participation and job attitudes across all 14 research locations.
