The Impact of Supervisory Characteristics on Goal Acceptance
Academy of Management Journal · 1975 · Volume 18 · Issue 3
Abstract
The study found that supervisory characteristics affect subordinates' stated acceptance of supervisor-assigned goals, but not the quantity or quality of subordinates' task performance; nor do subordinates who accept the assigned goal perform at a higher level than those who reject it. A multilevel model of goal acceptance is proposed.
