Abstract
This article examines the influence of key arguments in interpreting the information-relevant-to-the-task hypothesis. It argues that the discovery of a particularly persuasive argument favoring an alternative leads to the risky shift phenomenon. Given the justification that group discussion leads subjects to discover ways of minimizing possible losses and thus influences the choice of alternatives, the hypothesis still failed. A possibility is that the hypothesis was overextended when used for caution-oriented problems.
