Abstract
This study involved 108 subjects who were randomly assigned to individual (contingent on role performance) and systems (contingent on participation) reward conditions. Analysis of variance found that satisfaction was lower in the individual reward conditions even though it was correlated positively to performance. Although those who did not want to participate again were dissatisfied, they were not, on the average lower performers.
