Abstract

The article discusses research pertaining to the role of perceived ease of movement on employee absenteeism. Ease of movement refers to an individual's perception of the attractiveness and availability of alternative employment opportunities. Research has shown that perceived ease of movement is directly related to excused absenteeism. The study did not show a correlation between ease of movement and unexcused absenteeism. Experts speculate that the rate of excused absenteeism is beneficially related to employee retention.
