The Mixed Blessings of Contigency Management
Academy of Management Review · 1977 · Volume 2 · Issue 3
Abstract
Contingency management is defined as the “dominant management paradigm” in management literature and practice. A critique in the form of an emerging paradigm is labeled as “dialectical contextualism”. This critique is neo-conservative in nature since it rests upon phenomenological concepts of individual choice — concepts derailed by evolution of practices of contingency management.
