Abstract

The article focuses on an organized approach to faculty development where the basic principle is that only people who want to be developed can be developed toward specific goals and only if they perceive it as being in their best interest. A construct for developing an ideal faculty member is discussed by way of a matrix of attributes such as attitudes, personal characteristics, cognitive skill, aptitudes, sensitivities, research abilities, teaching abilities, community service interests, and unique skills.
