Three Models of Strategy
Academy of Management Review · 1985 · Volume 10 · Issue 1
Abstract
Three models of strategy that are implicit in the literature are described—linear, adaptive, and interpretive. Their similarity to hierarchical levels of system complexity is noted. The strategy construct is multifaceted, and it has evolved to a level of complexity almost matching that of organizations themselves.
