Distributions of test scores of industrial employees and applicants
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1946 · Volume 31 · Issue 5
Abstract
Experiments have demonstrated that critical scores on selection tests established by using present employees as the standardizing group do not always serve equally well as selection scores for applicants. The most likely explanation of this is that job applicants are more highly incentivated than employees on the job. However, youth, being test-broken, and the knowledge that companies are using tests also have been suggested as possible explanations. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
